Almabtrieb Festival in Mayrhofen

Yet another annual highlight is our "Almabtrieb" or "Home-Coming" festival at the Larchergut in Mayrhofen.  This year, summer grazing in the hill country will end for our cows on October 2nd.

After a good summer spent out on the alpine pastures, the cows - festively adorned in flower garlands and bells with embroidered straps - are driven back from Ginzling to Mayrhofen. As they arrive back in the valley, our friends, guests and acquaintances gather to celebrate. We invite you to join the farmers and cowherds, as the cattle return safely home.

After a strenuous walk, the Larchergut in Mayrhofen awaits with all kinds of traditional local foods and drink.  Such a big celebration would never be possible, of course, without the wonderful support we receive from the village of Hollenzen.
