See, taste, smell – enjoy our farmhouse cheese
A very special highlight of the Larchergut farm in Mayrhofen - we produce our own cheese and butter.
Experience first-hand how cheese is manufactured here at the Larchergut. We process the fresh cow's milk - which is silage free and not genetically engineered in any way - on the very same day, turning it into fine cheese specialties such as hill cheese, Tilsit and butter.
In our small dairy, the hill cheese takes the longest to ripen of all our cheeses. It has to be stored in our cellar between 4 and 12 months, and as it matures it becomes wonderfully aromatic. It has a very intensive, full flavor. And of course, you are always invited to sample and savor the final product. In every wheel of cheese you taste what went into it - a love for the animal and a love for nature. Naturally, the children and adults are all invited to lend us a hand with the work. You can even make your own butter to enjoy with breakfast in your holiday apartment.
