Zillertal Dairy
The dairy in Mayrhofen is at the entrance to the town. You will recognize it by its colourful cow on the roof, which illustrates the uniqueness of Mayrhofen, home to the first 'Adventure Dairy' in the Tyrol.
The 6,000-m² dairy offers 11 multi-media stations that teach parents, children, and groups about milk and cheese production up close. You can look over the shoulder of the master cheese maker and watch as he uses silo- and GMO-free hay milk to produce quality products such as mountain cheese, Alpine cheese, Emmentaler, grey cheese, cream, goat cheese, butter, quark, yogurt, and sheep's milk products.
The 380 hay farmers and the Zillertal Dairy, privately run by the Kröll family, have chosen near-natural management and do not use fermenting feed. The dairy is currently the only milk-production facility awarded a triple quality guarantee (freshness, ingredients, taste).
In addition to showrooms, the Zillertal Dairy also offers visitors the opportunity to 'see, smell, and enjoy' milk and cheese products made by the master cheese maker in the dairy kitchen.
The restaurant (with covered terrace) offers a breath-taking view of the Ziller Valley's mountains and pampers guests with homemade regional delicacies, hearty meals, and treats on the lighter side. There is even a playground for young guests.
Milk and cheese specialties, handmade crafts, and souvenirs can be purchased from the farm shop.
